Kathleen Atherton

Senior Associate

Work Life

Kathleen has extensive experience of advising on claims against solicitors, accountants, surveyors, IFAs and medical professionals. She has managed claims for compensation against the NHS including high value birthing claims and has advised on issues such as confidentiality and disclosure of medical records, mental health, and consent to treatment. She also has experience of defending claims against pharmaceutical companies. She regularly advises on coverage, policy wording, disciplinary/regulatory and recovery issues. She is a strong advocate of mediation. She combines technical experience with commercial awareness to bring cases to a speedy and cost effective conclusion. She is persistent and determined where this suits, but is equally able to develop dialogue through open and pragmatic discussion particularly in the healthcare setting. She has had good results in respect of claims by litigants in person in particular.
